John McQuay

Operations Manager, Working at Angstrom Lighting

I bet you can’t guess where I’m from?  Like most of the "family" at Line 204, I too hail from the great state of Alabama.  After graduating from Oxford High School, I decided to join the US Army.  Being only 17 years of age I truly believed the Army laid the foundation for becoming a man.  After the Army, I worked for the Federal government as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic.  I rebuilt turbine engines and transmissions on tanks.  I was one of the first mechanic’s on the Abrams A-1 tank that’s widely used in today’s Army.
Being from a small town in Alabama and working at the same job for 12 years, I wanted a change in life.  I decided to quit my job and travel for a while.  I finally landed my wheels here in LA and decided to do what everyone does....act and model.
While pursuing an acting career I landed a job with Investors Business Daily.  Working at IBD made me realize my passion…. I loved the stock market.  I read every book I could get my hands on.  After four years at IBD I was offered a job to manage a broker/dealer.  I truly thought my life was set until almost five years later I found out the CEO and CFO were misappropriating funds.  I had to make the toughest decision I’ve ever made in my life.  Do I continue making a huge six-figure income or quit with nothing.  Of course my strong morals and ethics took over and I quit two days later.
I then decided to get into the mortgage business and I don’t have to tell you what’s happened with that.  That’s when I decided to call Alton Butler to come aboard with Line 204.  Alton and I have been friends for almost 28 years.  People have asked me what is that one thing that’s kept our friendship together for some many years?  I can sum it up in two words, "TRUST & HONESTY".  He’s the model for what a man should be made of.
I’m very proud to be a part of what Alton has accomplished with Line 204, but most of all to have his friendship.  I’ve also been blessed to have the greatest wife in the world, Sharon and two boys Nainoa and Hudson.
