Beverly Wilshire Hotel - Phase I
- Genre: Photo Galleries
Story
The landmark Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California has seen a cavalcade of colorful faces walk through its doors, from Warren Beatty, Elvis Presley and John Lennon to the stars of the 1990 movie Pretty Woman. Now the historic hotel has a colorful face of its own, with help from Angstrom Lighting.
Angstrom installed 14 Color Kinetics ColorGraze Powercore and two ColorBlast 6 units to achieve this stunning effect. The ColorGraze Powercore is a new product specifically designed for exterior grazing and wall washing applications of color and color-changing light. The ColorBlast 6 is a compact wall-washing light that generates rich, uniform colors and color changing effects.
In combination, their versatility is virtually endless, and because of their small size, they were perfectly suited for the Beverly Wilshire, which wanted high impact fixtures that would not detract from the existing architecture.
The hotel as seen in these photos represents only Phase I of Angstrom's work on the Beverly Wilshire's graceful exterior. The second phase, to be completed in early 2009, will include 14 additional ColorGraze lights and an overall treatment on the outside patio. The final result will provide complete color control of the building's facade, allowing for greater creativity and glamour for this famous hotel.
Angstrom also provided the lights for the big bright crystal UNICEF snowflake near the top of the hotel. Since 2002, the snowflake has shone atop the Beverly Wilshire as a beacon of hope and a symbol of peace on behalf of children around the world.
