Hollywood, CA – September 28, 2005 – Stage, studio and event lighting has an important new education resource. Inspired by the success of Angstrom University in Summer 2005, Angstrom Lighting continues to receive accolades not only from students, but from the industry and academic professionals who taught the courses. And today Angstrom has announced that not only will it continue Angstrom University workshops for Summer 2006, but it will also be taking Angstrom University on the road with custom seminars designed for its clients. Students and professionals have always turned to Angstrom for its leadership and innovation, but even more so now since its education offerings include some of the only professional development workshops in the Southwest.

Luminary Angstrom University Instructors Praise Lighting Workshops

  • David Barber of Pepperdine University commented, \"The \'university\' was a wonderful opportunity for sharing and I hope it becomes an ongoing institution.\"

  • \"I had a really good time with the class,\" said Anne Militello of Vortex Lighting. \"The students were first rate with a sincere desire to learn...and the studio was equipped with everything I needed as an instructor. What better environment to demonstrate the art of lighting than a lighting shop filled with equipment?\"

  • \"We found it very exciting...that many of the students were teachers themselves. I think that Angstrom University can fill a very important and needed role in the training of theatre and production professionals,\" wrote Tom and Donna Ruzika, of the Ruzika Company.

Other instructors included: Martyn Bookwalter, Eileen Cooley, Casey Cowan, Jeff Flowers, Brian Gale, Gary Grossman, Steve and Rebel Hoffman, Dawn Hollingsworth, K.C. Hooper, J. Kent Inasy, Frans Klinkenberg , Warren Mays, Lenna Minion, James Moody, Liz Stillwell, Fedj Sylvanus, Joseph Tawil, Andrew Webberley, Jeremy Windle and Michael Zinman.

Students Benefit from Lighting Workshops

\"Our students included theatre owners, museum designers, teachers, filmmakers and lighting professionals across all disciplines looking to improve their technical, business or design skills,\" notes Coco Klinkenberg, Angstrom Lighting Vice President, who spearheaded Angstrom University. \"I especially liked the networking aspect of the programs. A recent college graduate just getting his feet wet in the Los Angeles theatre scene attended a design class taught by Martyn Bookwalter who then hired him to work at the Colorado World Theatre Festival.\" These personal success stories helped motivate Klinkenberg to expand upon the programs for 2006, to push for making education a core service of Angstrom Lighting and to launch a new website, www.angstromuniversity.com soon to be on-line.
